Meet Our Staff

William McCrae

President

William McCrae, President of Beltone Audiology and Hearing Aids and a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist, has been practicing for more than twenty years. He is a third-generation dispenser with the Beltone family. His practice has been twice the recipient of Beltone's Regional Award and is the 2009-2010 Beltone President's Cup recipient. McCrae currently serves as Chairman of the State Licensing Committee for the Fitting & Dispensing of Hearing Instruments. He is also past President of the Texas Hearing Aid Association, Member of the International Hearing Society, and is a member of the President's Advisory Committee for Beltone Electronics.

Tracy Byerly, II, MD

Medical Director

Dr. Byerly received his medical degree from the University of Texas Medical School (UTMS) at Houston in 2002. He completed an internship in general surgery at UTMS in 2007 and his residency in Otorhinolaryngology, head and neck surgery at UTMS in 2012. Dr. Byerly currently serves as the Medical Director for Beltone Audiology & Hearing Aids.


David Ives, Audiologist

Director of Patient Care

David Ives earned his Bachelor of Arts in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Baylor University and Master of Arts degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences from Washington State University. He holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Ives joined Beltone in 2003 and continues to assist patients improve the quality of their lives through better hearing. In addition to his clinic work, Ives is the Director of Patient Care for the Beltone team, providing continuing training and support to our practitioners.

Erin Leshikar, Au.D.

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Erin Leshikar graduated from the University of Texas in Austin for both her bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2008 as well as for her Doctorate in Audiology in 2012. She is a member of the Texas Academy of Audiology and a published co-author in the field of auditory research. Dr. Leshikar is proud to be a part of the Beltone team and is dedicated to helping her patients meet their hearing goals.

Dana Hernandez, Au.D.

Audiologist

Dr. Dana Hernandez has more than 10 years of practice in the field of Audiology. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication Disorders with a minor in Psychology from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, TX and her Doctor of Audiology degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Allied Health. Dr. Hernandez is a Fellow member of the American Academy of Audiology and Academy of Doctors of Audiology. She is currently serving as the Texas Clinical Director for the Specials Olympics Healthy Hearing Program. Dr. Hernandez has extensive clinical experience in all clinical populations. She is diverse in fitting hearing aids and assistive listening devices. Dr. Hernandez is adept in assessing both pediatric and adult patients.

Rebecca Best, M.S.

Audiologist

Rebecca Best earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Communication Disorders from Northeast Missouri State University. She earned a Master of Science degree in Audiology from the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center in 1994. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. Best began working for Beltone in 1994 and hopes to continue helping her patients enjoy life through better hearing for a long time to come.

Michael Richie, M.S., CCC-A

Audiologist

Michael Richie earned both his Bachelor of Science (1993) and Master of Science (1996) in Communication Disorders from Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Allied Health in Lubbock, Texas. He holds a certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Audiology. He is also a member of the Texas Academy of Audiology. Richie Joined Beltone in 2014 and looks forward to providing the hearing healthcare his patients need and deserve.

James McCrae, A.C.A

Audioprosthologist

James McCrae, a certified Audioprosthologist and licensed hearing aid dispenser, is the clinic director for the Hill Country practices in Kerrville and Fredericksburg. He began his career in the medical field more than 30 years ago in the United States Navy working in numerous clinical settings providing healthcare to our armed forces. McCrae has been helping the Hill Country residents hear better for more than 15 years.

Rubi Garvelli, HIS

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Rubi Garvelli graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas and joined the Beltone team in 2007 as the Outreach Coordinator, providing services to patients residing in retirement centers and nursing homes. She is a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist and is now the clinic director for the Northeast San Antonio location. Garvelli is committed to providing the community with the best hearing healthcare possible.

Andrew Cearnel, HIS

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Andrew Cearnel is a third generation licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist. He started his career in 2001 in Georgetown, Texas. Cearnal is now Clinic Director of the Beltone South Austin and Marble Falls clinics. He looks forward to assisting his Beltone patients in better hearing for many years to come.


Sarah Williams, Au.D.

Doctor of Audiology

Dr. Sarah Williams graduated from the University of Texas at Austin for both her Doctorate of Audiology in 2014 and her Bachelor's degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders in 2010. She is a member of the American Academy of Audiology, American Speech Language and Hearing Association, and the Texas Academy of Audiology. Dr. Williams is dedicated to helping those with hearing loss through patient education and personalized rehabilitation.

Debra Mueller, A.C.A.

Audioprosthologist

Debra Mueller joined Beltone Audiology and Hearing Aids in 2011 as a licensed Audioprosthologist and is the New Braunfels Clinic Director. She started her career in the hearing healthcare industry more than 10 years ago in Seguin, Texas and has been helping patients enjoy quality of life through better hearing ever since.


Kathy Boivin, HIS

Hearing Instrument Specialist

Kathy Boivin joined Beltone in 2013 as a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist. Along with her clinical experience, Mrs., Boivin has experience working in nursing homes, assisted living and retirement homes. She has been recognized by Beltone by earning the prestigious Master Hearing Aid Practitioner Award. Patient care is her top priority, treating each patient as if they were her own family.

Robert Bond, BC-HIS

Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist

Robert Bond has been practicing as a licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist for more than 15 years. He is Board Certified in Hearing Instrument Sciences and in addition to his work in clinics, Bond has experience working in hospitals, Veteran Affairs medical centers, and assisted living facilities. Bond moved to Texas in 2008 and joined Beltone in 2011. He is enjoying getting to know his patients and helping them improve their quality of life through better hearing.
