Meet Our Staff

Paul Rowden, Owner & Operator

Licensed Hearing Care Practitioner

My wife Carolyn and I moved to Wichita in 1976. We live in West Wichita and are members of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church. We have been married for 44 years and have four children and two grandsons. I served in the Army in Europe from 1969 to 1971. I am a State licensed Hearing Instrument Specialist and member of the Kansas Hearing Society and also serve on the board of the Kansas Board of Hearing Aid Examiners.

My hobbies included playing music (guitar), for a number of retirement communities in and around the Wichita area. I also have my own Western Swing band and we perform for a number of special events throughout the year. I also enjoy riding motorcycles and currently hold a private pilot’s license as well as a commercial pilot’s license along with an instrument rating.

It goes without saying that I thoroughly enjoy life and truly feel blessed to own an organization that is able to help those with hearing loss to have a better quality of life.

Mark Bogner

Licensed Hearing Care Practitioner

I made the transition from the world of television meteorology to the world of helping people with their hearing in the spring of 2013. While it may seem quite different, I have always enjoyed helping people have a better quality of life and now I am able to do it in a personal, one-on-one basis. Of course, it meant going "back to school" to learn a new trade, but I was pleasantly surprised at how the two sciences cross-over. They are both dealing with the behavior of waves...one is sound waves and the other Rossby Waves, but the laws of physics are exactly the same. There are also many correlations between radar meteorology and hearing and I was pleased to find that some of the same terminology, such as "attenuation" is used!

While I am passionate about helping people with their hearing, I haven't given up on my daily weather hobby. I provide the Monday through Friday forecasts for Q92 FM "The Beat" in Wichita and 550 AM, KFRM, "The Voice of the Plains" in Salina. I also continue to teach the Introduction to Meteorology course at Butler Community College, which I have done for some time now. I enjoy helping students explore the exciting world of weather. I am also the author of a book called "A Year of Kansas Weather" about the changing Kansas weather and what it was like growing up on a farm in the '70s and '80s.

When it comes to hearing, I am no stranger to hearing loss and how it adversely affects families. My father was diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma (a tumor on the 8th Cranial Nerve that runs from the inner ear to the brain), that had to be removed, so my father was deaf in one ear and hard of hearing in the other and was fit with a special kind of hearing aid called a "bicros." After my father passed away from prostate cancer some years later, I inherited those hearing aids and had them in my pocket, close to my heart, when I took the Kansas State Exam to become a Licensed Hearing Care Practitioner. My mother also has hearing loss and wears a pair of Beltone hearing aids. I myself suffer from tinnitus (a constant ringing in the ears) and have some high frequency hearing loss, so I know it is only a matter of time before I am wearing Beltones too.

When I am not helping patients hear better, I love spending time with my family and volunteering at my church, St. Francis of Assisi. My wife is a music teacher and she fills in for Beltone's Patient Care Coordinators whenever they are on vacation or need time off. I have a daughter and a son in college at Benedictine in Atchison and a daughter at Bishop Carroll Catholic High School. My dog is a Carolina breed named Sugar and is, not surprisingly, the color of light brown sugar.

Mary Ann Leo

Hi and welcome to Beltone!

My name is Mary Ann Leo and I am the Patient Care Coordinator for our West Wichita office.

I moved to Wichita about 6 years ago from the Pacific Northwest to be closer to some of my elder family members. I’ve been married to my high school sweet heart Chris for 34 years. We met in Hawaii while doing a high school play together. We have 3 beautiful children.

My eldest son Chance is an avid snowboarder living in Portland Oregon. My eldest daughter Julie Anna lives in northern Washington. She and her husband Rob are expecting their first child in May of 2015. It’s a boy! I’m looking forward to being a grandmother for the first time. I hear it’s wonderful! My youngest daughter Michelle is a very talented writer and actress at Northwest High School.

I very much enjoy my job here at Beltone. Our patients and my coworkers are amazing. When not at work I enjoy spending time with family, friends, listening to music and watching old classic movies. I also love to go to garage sales, thrift shops and estate sales to find those special treasures that I upcycle, recycle and refurbish. My creative spirit is always working on a project!

Julie Bogner

I have been working as the fill-in Patient Care Coordinator since July of 2014. Mark Bogner, the Hearing Instrument Specialist at the West Hutchinson & Newton offices is my husband and we love the days we get to work together. Family is very important to me. We have 3 teenagers--two of them are at Benedictine College and one is at Bishop Carroll, and I live for the days they are all home.

I have a music education degree from KU and my other job is teaching Kindermusik at Senseney Music in Wichita. I have students from newborn to 3 1/2 years old. Making music with children is a lifelong dream of mine! I also sing at church and adore going to the library.
